BKCR Launches New Course "Health Studies", Leading to University Entrance Qualification (Abitur) |
Posted by W. Niehues (niehues) on Feb 20 2017 |
In the school year 2017/2018, the BKCR will launch a new course leading to Germany's university entrance qualification (Abitur), focused on the field of health studies. The students will have the majors health studies and biology, thus putting emphasis on knowledge in the specific vocational field.
Otherwise, the university entrance qualification ("Abitur") they achieve at the end of the course is just as universal as any Abitur achieved at any other secondary school. Thus, even if a student changes their mind and abandons the plans to work in the health field, it is possible to study other things at a university, e.g. law, journalism or computer science.
Even though it is a rather unique type of course in North Rhine-Westphalia, the enrollment numbers prove that it is in demand: while the enrollment phase was still going on, there were already about 50 people who had enrolled for the new course.
