In the main auditorium of the BKCR, Castrop-Rauxel's only politician panel discussion before the German general election 2017 took place. Delegates from the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Socialdemocratic Party (SPD), Greens (Grüne) and Free Democrats (FDP) came to answer questions from Michael Trockel and Til Röhrmann, BKCR teachers who acted as moderators.

Only the far-left party Die Linke and the far-right party AfD declined to send any delegates to this panel discussion.

Topics talked about ranged from the integration of people with immigration background to currect city projects.
